Greetings! So, long story short:

Half a year ago previous worker has applied our website for listing in DMOZ. Without doing any research or anything like that. Just because he has heard that being listed in DMOZ is cool. Website was applied 3 times in different related but still wrong categories with very short intervals. Without reading guidelines (though, those were violated not too heavily). Now that he's not working in company, I have to deal with this situation.

My question: should I reapply for listing again (half a year later), but with proper choice of category and strictly following the guidelines? I'm afraid that because of submission violation our website can be rejected immediately. But still, waiting is hardly an option - I'm sure that our submission was rejected (guidelines violation + submission spam + wrong categories).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Anyone can suggest any site. Editors usually rewrite suggested descriptions and may also place a site in another category than it was suggested in.

In this case you may suggest the site once more I would say.

Thank you for your answer! I hope that now we'll do everything the right way. :)

I'm curious. Might a site not be accepted simply due to not enough editors (or not enough time for the editors that are available) for various categories? I was discussing this with a colleague that submitted a site from the same niche category as a similar accepted site, but they heard nothing and assume the site was not accepted.

BTW, I appreciate the work the editors do.

A site may be waiting to be evaluated, waiting time can be infinite...

Very good to know. I appreciate it, especially as you see recommendations to resubmit in other threads (which, I believe, you also indicated you should not do).

@ManzanitaBeach - Our recommendations are often based on actual circumstances; for example if there was a bug which might have affected site suggestions to a category. This isn't the case here.
