winallpoker Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Hi, I have made several attempts today to contact the editor of a category via the http://www.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/send.cgi?toeditor=###### links provided, they appear not to process the request after fully completing the form. Error Message: Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request POST /cgi-bin/send2.cgi. Reason: Error reading from remote server.
Meta pvgool Posted November 19, 2008 Meta Posted November 19, 2008 Hi, I have made several attempts today to contact the editor of a category via the http://www.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/send.cgi?toeditor=###### links provided, they appear not to process the request after fully completing the form. Editors are all volunteers and they can process suggestions at any time they want. Your suggestion is not more than a suggestion and certainly not a request for an editor to look at the website. Time between suggestion and review may vary between a few days and several years. There is no need to contact an editor about your suggested website. Error Message: Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request POST /cgi-bin/send2.cgi. Reason: Error reading from remote server. This is a known error. Technical staff is working on it. The email you send is delivered to the editor, even if you get such an error. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
winallpoker Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 While I am perfectly aware of the fact that DMOZ editors are volunteers, I was humbly pointing out that your mailing system had an error or appeared to have an error. The "links provided, they appear not to process the request after fully completing the form." referred to the links of the current dysfunctional DMOZ editor / page submitter email communication system with no onus placed on the editors themselves.

Heh... drat. Now I've just emailed an editor 5 times with the same message. I hope it's resolved soon to save the inboxes of the editing team
