clearc01 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Hi, I have an on-line shop selling partyware for children's parties. I submitted a listing about three months ago but have heard nothing back I am based in Ireland and have a .ie site as well as a .com site. Which site would you prefer to list or can both be listed, one under Ireland and the other under kids and teens Editors are very busy so any help / comments on the progression on the status of my application would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps I shouls resubmit under a different category All the best Colin Clear
bobrat Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Further information is provided in http://resource-zone.com/forum/faq.php?faq=odp#faq_faq_site_questions and in http://resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=39116 and we don't send out email regarding acceptance or rejection of a site. You could suggest the other site to another categroy and include in the notes the fact that you have submiited both sites, that provides full disclosure, and an editor can decide whohc one is best. It is possible to have a site listed in Kids and Teends and in Regional, but it's best to have the same URL in each case.
Meta pvgool Posted March 5, 2006 Meta Posted March 5, 2006 Colin, If you have suggested the site soemwhere in http://dmoz.org/Kids_and_Teens/ you better reread the description at http://dmoz.org/Kids_and_Teens/desc.html It does not include sites that are designed primarily to sell merchandise I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
Editall/Catmv makrhod Posted March 5, 2006 Editall/Catmv Posted March 5, 2006 In the process of suggesting your site, you were asked to read the guidelines at http://dmoz.org/guidelines/kguidelines/, which say If a site's primary purpose is to sell products and services, it should ... not be added to the Kids and Teens ODP, even if the targeted audience is the under 18 age group. So yes, you need to find a more suitable category. If you visit the FAQ of this forum you will find even more information, including a question entitled "Can I make a submission to my subject category and one to Regional where I am located?". <added> Those guys are much faster than I am, and posted while I was still working out the quote thingies! FAQ about becoming a volunteer ODP editor. I edit for the ODP and support those guidelines at all times, but my opinions are my own.
clearc01 Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 Many Thanks for taking the time to reply to my query. I need to do more reading of the rules and do things properly All the best Colin
