Hi, To make Dmoz good you guys should receive more applications for categories rather than showing no space for editors, it will help in quality submissions which are in queue. I guess you guys wont accept any suggestions!!!

Dear Sir or Madam, Hopefully somebody can be of assistance. Yesterday, I sent a request to update a listing, as my web domain name has changed. I still own the old domain and will continue to use if for email purposes, though the web site has moved to the new domain name. Besides the domain name change nothing else has changed in relation to the site of content. Today I noticed that my business is now listed twice and just thought that I should make someone aware. Kind regards Terry

The description on dmoz for my organization, “Order Sons of Italy in America” (or “OSIA”), is incorrect and contains erroneous information. Presently, it says: "(OSIA) National site for this fraternal order for Italian-American men. Membership information, local lodges, history, contact information, and programs." OSIA is not a fraternal organization, and it is 50/50 men and women. The text should read: “(OSIA) site for the largest and oldest national organization for men and women of Italian heritage in the United States. Membership information, local lodges, history, contact information, programs, and benefits.” Can this be fixed? Please let me know if…

This directory is doomed for extinction, it is so dishonest it makes me puke. I have submitted many QUALITY websites during the years (and I know what quality is: I am no white or black hat seo of any kind, but I just work hard on delivering great original content, that's all). Never accepted, not even half. Then I have to find poor websites like this? http://www.chiantistorico.com/ and you can be sure it's always been this bad, I used the wayback machine and checked it out. So, I would like to know the corrupted editor that volunteered to approve his own website. I got many more examples and I bet any one on here does, but that one is enough to m…

I tried to apply for an editor position, it never worked for me. I tried to submit my website and waited years and my web never been listed. I saw poor websites listed and not mine.. but that's beside the point. I read the same things over and over, you guys think you are GOD and we need to wait for your mercy aka approval or not, waiting for years.. a complete joke. Now the only thing i like about dmoz.org is: I'm young and all the staff members/ most of them are old farts. I can't wait for you to die (it will be a def soon for me). so they can be repalced with a younger crowd, more professional, don't need to use a magnifier to find our submissions, faster and not a…

Why are Editors not reviewed or tested on their "definitions" of Dmoz's rules? Two of them <editor names removed> were doing nothing but mocking and goading the person asking the question here, and their definitions are contrary to Dmoz's own: http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=55182 There should be a way to reprimand editors for such behavior. There should also be a way to have them reviewed based on statements they've made as to their own inaccurate (and contradictory to Dmoz's own) definitions of certain phrases that Dmoz uses in its terms. This shows users that Dmoz has no respect for them, and that the integrity of Dmoz is questionable…

Hi, I have been trying to get my site listed at http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/Sports/Tipping_and_Handicapping/Soccer/ for many years. My site is a real authority in that field, but I have seen that not only is my site not listed, generally there has been hardly any activity in that category for a very long time, so the editor is obviously completely inactive. I have tried to write to him via dmoz's send-message-tool: http://www.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/send.cgi?toeditor=sgvictor but I get a 502 proxy error (I tried it several times during the last 6 months) so that one would be a good fix too by the way. But my question is, when will dmoz finally remove an …

I see a company listed that is no longer trading and going through bankcrupt proceedings, the bank account is frozen by the authorities and the owner is tactfully keeping the site active and signing clients over to another company with a similar trade name. Is this allowed on dmoz?

Our company is taking care of most of these companys websites: http://www.dmoz.org/World/Lietuvi%C5%B3/Verslas/Finansin%C4%97s_paslaugos/Bankai/ Almost all descriptions are the same or begins with the same phrase "Žinios apie banką...", so we and our clients wants to fix this to be more accurate. Is it possible? Or I must be an Editor?

Considering the state of the economy, providing modern day resources for saving money should be considered greater than the zero priority ODP has given it by ignoring it completely for years. http://www.dmoz.org/Home/Homemaking/Frugality/Coupons/ The top link in this directory hasn't even updated it's home page in more than 2 years. The rest scream out "this is so 1990's". I applied years ago to be an editor for this category since I know the space well (wouldn't need to filter through thousands of site requests in order to improve it), but it's clearly off the radar, or (putting on the tin foil hat) being intentionally locked down perhaps for the benefit of one…

Hello, I am curious as how it can take some sites years to get in but on a couple of certain sites one has 4,850 entries And then another has over 38,000 entries? Some entries are quite new for both. How is this fair? Obviously these sites have people on the inside. Furthermore it seems sub-categories are created just for these sites. An editor would have to work full time for any one of these sites. There are a several more like this and they are all Branded sites that heavily utilize Adwords and I am sure spend huge advertisement dollars with Google. Thanks WW

The site http://www.hirojo-u.ac.jp/cgimap/landscape_e.html only has 12 pictures in it with a basic descriptions for the photos. The photos are nothing special, nor are the descriptions. There are many other sites on the same topic which are much better than this. I think it should be removed. Section: /Regional/Asia/Japan/Prefectures/Hiroshima/

Hello editors, I tried unsuccessfully to become an editor for the hyperhidrosis section on DMOZ, but it proved futile and I have essentially given up barring some suitable link/description/title combination I can submit with any confidence. Hopefully I am posting this message in the correct place and not screwing up like I did with my editor applications. FYI -- I already found two basic mistakes that were corrected so I am not just posting this lengthy message here because of the need for attention (see following thread last few messages) -- http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53072 The reason I am posting here is because I have another c…

Hi, I noticed a competitor of ours be listed in numerous categories (5), when at most they could be listed in the main category and then the category for their blog. They are being listed in categories having to do with different products they sell, and from reading http://www.dmoz.org/help/cats.html - "For example, if you have a site selling tickets for concerts, football games, and amusement parks, the site would not be placed in all three categories." this is not allowed, but it is what is happening. And some of their descriptions talk about fast shipping and large inventory, which seem to be more marketing-like descriptions than something that belongs in DMOZ. …

Hello, my former website which does not exist anymore for over 7 years now is still listed in the bookmark section of DMOZ. A lot of other pages use your directory and therefore when searching with google for my name this link with descriptions comes up several times even though the link leads to "page does not exist". I am talking about the last entry (http://www.geocities.com/conny1978/)at http://www.dmoz.org/Bookmarks/X/xx00xx/Menschen_und_Gruppen/C/ I have written to the editor several times but nothing happenes - and since this page has not been updated since 2002, it is unlikely that he even still cares or exists. As you can see for yourself, the last entry…

Hello, maybe a newbie question, but so far I haven't found solution for this: I'm trying to fix my site title and description: Searching in dmoz, http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=pr%C3%A1zdniny+v+tel%C4%8Di returns right category (http://www.dmoz.org/World/%C4%8Cesky/Kultura/Hudba/Festivaly/), under which I see my web right listed with updated title and desc. But on search page, under Open Directory Sites is still old title and description, how do I make it updated?

Please check this directory listing Regional: Asia: Philippines: Provinces: Benguet: Baguio City Of the 10 sites listed, 4 are owned by the same person, Lisa Araneta: Atenara House Baguio Insider Baguio Table Tennis League Go Baguio! Is Lisa Araneta an editor in this section? Isn't it a little biased to have 40% of the directory listing to belong to only one person? After asking around, a couple of other Baguio sites have not been accepted into the directory even after a year of application, and yet Lisa Araneta's sites are accepted? Will somebody look into this, please, as the current directory for Baguio City is rather stale and grossly biased.
