I'v submitted my application as an editor 1 month ago under the category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Malaysia/Business_and_Economy/Industries/Manufacturing/ It'll be nice if anyone do let me know if its accepted or rejected because I haven't got any email yet my email is jamestcs@yahoo.com I am confident to become a helpful editor because most of my clients are in the manufacturing industries. I think my working experiences can help me to justify a website for applying under this category. Sincerely hope you can approve my application for me to help you, the country and the Internet.

I have just resubmitted a request to become an editor of http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Home_Improvement/Cabinets/Custom-made/ I only submitted the first request a couple of days ago, but in reading all of the forum posts, I've realized that I needed to do the URL submissions differently. Could somebody please delete my first request(the user name I submitted the first time was "woodshop") and just let my second request be considered? Thanks to anyone who can assist me with this. I'd hate to be rejected based on that first request. :/images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif Angela

Hello, I applied to become an editor and was wondering how long it would be before I heard a reply. The category to which I applied does not have an editor and any help I could get would be great. The category I applied to was: Top: Business: Insurance: Agents and Marketers: Multi-Line: United States: Multi-State The username I selected was: fjohnson Thank you in advance for your help and I look forward to becoming a member of your community. Is six weeks long enough to wait for a decision or a reply either way? Or is the backlog for new editors' applications increasing? Thanks for any information.

Should I apply to a leaf node cat or one level up?

I am looking at applying to be an editor in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Handcrafted/Theme, which is a relatively small category without an editor, but it does have a number of subcategories under it. There are about 22 sites in the cat and 56 total in it and all the subcategories. Is this too big of a structure for a new editor? I am interested in a number of the leaf level categories and feel I would make a very good editor, but most only have two to five sites in them. If I did apply to this category, should I just submit sites that are general Theme sites, or ones that would go into the lower, more specific subcategories? Also would the fact that it is a Sh…

The first time, it was a bug, The second, it was for an obscure reason, And now, i'm still waiting, as usual. Is there too many editors in france? Is my french too poor? I don't know? Please give me an answer. It should help me to become an ODP editor. For informations, have a look to this thread: http://resource-zone.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=french&Number=3300&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart= Sorry, it's in french. I have tried several times to become a member for categories all with just a few listings. I have founded several large city directories like CheckHouston.com which I think would make me qualified to run certain categories. I just founded a new site MortgageSoup.com which I wanted placed in Top: Business: Real Estate: Information: Mortgages (only 8 listings). I have submitted this site through regular channels with no success. Should I try becoming an editor for the aforementioned category and suggesting this site?

Rejected from Requested Category

I just got rejected for the category I requested to edit - but the reasons given are confusing. I am told that the category I chose is already well represented - yet at the bottom of the page it says "this category needs an editor." I am also told "the category is broader than what we would assign to a new editer" - yet it only has 145 sites listed. I also read (here in the forum)that even if it says "this category needs an editor" that sometimes the editor from the category above it is taking care of it. If that's the case then what is the point of looking for even "smaller" categories? Do you guys ever reconsider your decisions? Category requested: Top: Shopping…

A month or so ago I applied to be an editor for the following, Business: E-Commerce: Customer Relationship Management which I notice is still is in need of an Editor. I was not given a reason as to why and I understand there are over 250 sites in this category still to be reviewed. Possibly someone could shed some light on this for me. Thanks

No News Is Good News?

Hi, I applied to edit http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Cornwall/Perranporth/ 4th May 2002, I have not been notified of the outcome and was wondering if my application has been reviewed. From reading earlier posts I note that not all applications receive a response, which is a shame, the feedback would be useful as it would enable potential editors to refine future applications and maybe sharpen up their editing skills. In the meantime I'm hoping that no news is good news. I am keen to get started (or start again) and will be watching my mailbox. James Scott Editor Wannabe

Hi, I know that many applications for OPD editor are rejected for the same reasons. I quess that the editors who review the applications are rather bias. Can anyone share some tips on how to write a good application ? What are the objectives for ODP editors to approve an application.

I want to apply to have my old account reactivated. Only problem is, its 2-3 years old and I can't remember which username and password I used. All I have is my original activation key email. Is it possible that somebody can make sense of it and hook me up with my old username and password?

Selecting URLs to submit

Fan a deck of cards and say 'Pick a card, any card'; is it the same when applying for editorship? The preamble requesting appropriate skillsets and the tiebreaker question - fair enough. But the completed URLs? Presumably these should not currently be indexed? Do I trawl the web and see what I can dig up?

This is very puzzling. I already edit a small ODP category on passports and visas. I applied after I finished making a site for the US embassy in Canada - www.amcits.com. As the owner operator of [no adult URLs please] for the past 3 1/2 years I actually have more involvement in and knowledge of gay web site. I applied to edit a category about gay escorts in Las Vegas and was rejected. The category *says* that it is in need of an editor. I've made web sites for and about local escorts. The category is woefully incomplete. But they say they don't need an editor. Why did they ask for an editor then? This seems very very strange to me. And now I don't especially f…
