I have applied to become an editor of DMOZ on Top: Regional: Asia: China: Provinces and Regions: Beijing: Business and Economy (290) But I never receive any reject email except the confrimation email. I applied for the sci fi books section, but have not received a reply, is this unusual? I do not want to apply again if ODP do not send rejection e-mails. Could anyone look into this, sorry if you get hundreds of these requests.

I applied to become an ODP editor around 3 1/2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting to hear back. That's not a problem. The reason for my post is that I can't seem to lose this nagging feeling that I should have applied to a different category, one for which I had no site affiliations. I read the "application guidelines" and then browsed the threads of these forums and came away feeling it's "o.k." to have an affiliation as long as you disclose it. The problem is that every now and then you read a post where the writer recommends that you not apply for a category if you have an affiliation with a site that would be appropriate for that category. I wonder; how much work, applies and posts were prevented if DMOZ would post a "status board" (Like the one I recall was used in my high school) divided by categories with the application name/URL and application status (approved/denied/in Q). I’ve been applied two weeks ago, by now (after reading few posts) I know that it's not that long. My story: Three weeks ago I applied to a regional category 6 levels down that contained 6 sites (it's a leaf with no children). I spent a couple of meticulous hours with the application. I disclosed my personal site and listed a few reasons why I thought my site should not be listed anywhere at DMOZ. I've received no response as of yet and that made me realize the editor approval process needs improving if DMOZ is to grow. It's been stated that the site and editor approval queues are backed up into the hundreds per category. But, the web page for sports/soccer/shopping/ still says it has no edittor ? I would also like to edit sports/soccer/collectables/ Anyway my application can be looked at again without me having to filling that long form again ? i applied to be an editor in Regional/NorthAmerica/UnitedStates/Massachusetts/Localities/P/Peabody/ and the 3 web sites i suggested 2 had to do with the internet and the other was a resturaunt that belong in the catagories like business and the other one in entertainment actually the 2 could go in comuters/ or internet some where too but are headquartered in peabody anyway am I going to get rejected because they specifically belong in like peabody/business or did applyng for peabody cover whats under it <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Over a month ago, I applied to be the editor of a very small category: http://dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Denominations/Catholicism/People/Teens/ The category has no sub-categories, and only contains about 10 links. Many of the descriptions for the sites listed there are very poorly written. They do not abide by the ODP guidelines. The parent category does not have an editor. New thread started because I didn't wish to distract from anyone else's thread. I just wished to comment on some reactions in this forum from present editors and how they might be viewed by prospective applicants. There have been a number of posts with the message "Well I did this or that, and I got accepted in five hours/five days/five minutes", which tends to imply that all people who haven't been accepted did not take these steps. I accept that there are many applications which do not meet the ODP guidelines. I even accept the point of view that hints should not be given on how to improve to applicants who are rejected. Firstly thanks to all ODP people to start a forum like this. I recently applied for the editorship of a category of my interest. I did write a very honest application explaining my interest and submitted sites with descriptions after reading the guidelines. Today I received an email, stating that I am not accepted, however in the reviewer comments section, there's a link of a category. My question is what am I being told to do now? 1. I agree I only applied a week ago or so, but being it is such a small category and i doubt it receives spam, I thought maybe I would inquire. After reading the other posts it seems if it takes awhile when its a big cat and receives alot of spam but dont think this is the case with this cat. I just wanted to check on it if anyone gets a chance as I have not received any word yet. Was curious about the number of suggested sites you should enter when you apply to be an editor. The first set of directions say "3 sites", but when you get to actually entering the sites, the directions say "2 or 3 sites". Does it make a difference? Is it a killer if you enter 2 instead of 3?

I applied to become an category editor, and carefully filled out the application. However, after I pressed "submit", the message came back saying that the username was already taken and I should press the back button. When I did, all of the information I carefully filled in was lost. Isn't there a way to go back and choose a new user name WITHOUT having to once again fill in the entire form??? Now I have to go back and recreate everything I typed in.... If I do it at all, I'm so disgusted.

I know, one has to wait for some time before he get's a reply. But what makes me impatient is, there are just 36 sites within it & I believe there might be hardly any people submitting for editorship under this category. So the meta editor should be able to reply soon. Insight on reason for delay, would be appreciated.
