Hi, This is Xavi from Barcelona (Spain). My problem is... I was listed in dmoz in "Recreation: Collecting: Figurines: Lladro" with my url "http://store.yahoo.com/lladro" for a long time, we were really proud of being in dmoz, and one day some months ago our url was deteled. After trying to be submitted again now can't seem to get a listing in dmoz. I have been trying it for a long time, I have followed all the rules and guidelines, I have been patient, haven't over submitted. When I didn't get listed in the first category, I tried submitting in another relevant category but I have the same result. I can't understand why my site was listed for so many months (even…

After just over four months my site is finally in DMOZ, but not in a submitted category, and with a truncated description. URL: http://www.shakenstir.co.uk/ Category submitted to: Arts: Music: Magazines and E-zines: S, and later Arts: Music: Styles: Rock: Alternative: Magazines and E-zines Listed category: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Arts and Entertainment: Music: Magazines and E-zines While it is obviously a UK site, the content is of global interest - we feature a lot of U.S. and European artists in particular. Both of the categories I've submitted to in the past feature UK sites (as well as a lot of neglected sites). The shortened description I can (ho…

No editor-no listing?

Thrilled to see a forum devoted to ODP issues. Here's mine... I submitted my URL, www.78zpm.com, to ODP on 11/01/01, category Business: Consulting: Research Services: A. I waited patiently for my listing to appear but nothing. I resubmitted on 02/01/02 and still nothing. Now, this category does not have an editor so the other day I went up the chain in the category and found an editor to direct my questions to but I have not received a reply. So, I am writing to the forum in the hope that an editor will look at the URL, the description I submitted and the category I am applying to and tell me if there are any issues or areas of concern that are preventing 78.ZPM's …

No editor for category

I've submitted two sites to categories without an editor and the nearest editor is 4 categories away ("philc") is four categories up. Should I submit the sites to "philc" and explain that I would like them to be considered for deeper categories? www.myettent.com to the category: Regional: Caribbean: British Virgin Islands: Travel and Tourism: Lodging: Hotels And www.indigohouse.org to the category: Regional: Caribbean: British Virgin Islands: Travel and Tourism: Lodging: Vacation Rentals

I applied to be an editor tonight... well, this morning. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, after looking at some of the other posts, but I was just wondering- what's the most efficient way for editors to post sites that are not in their own cats?

Choosing among many possible categories

Hi everyone, First, thanks to whomever created this forum, it's great to be able to interact with all of the ODP members. I'm developing a site for a friend's retail bicycle store, which is located in Cooperstown, New York state. FYI, the site is at http://velosophy.com We're hoping to target two different audiences with the site, first the local audience, which would ideally fall under this category: Top: Sports: Cycling: Bike Shops: North America: United States: New York More importantly however, we hope to target a more global audience, or at minimum, a North American or USA audience. Some of the following categories might be relevant: Top: Sports: Cycli…

Hi Everyone, It has been about 3 weeks since I submitted to dmoz and still no listing. I neglected to enter an email because I figured I'm either in or I'm not, but it looks as though there may be more to the process of being listed than simply submitting. Since it has been 3 weeks, should I just submit again and this time enter my email address so that I can receive comments from the editor?

Hi Guys, I have a couple of general questions: My site is listed in ODP in a single category. I would like to have it listed in other applicable categories. The URL is http://www.jbanner.com. Right now it's listed in Comptuters: Graphics: Web: Banners. I don't want to jeopardize that listing, but I'd like it to be listed in Internet Promotion and Creating Banners and also in the logo design section since I now offer that service. What's the limit on the number of categories a site can be listed in? I'm not trying to spam my URL, but I would like to be listed in more than one category since I offer multiple services. What's the correct procedure for submi…

To All ODP Editors, I just want to say that no matter how much people complain, your great (brown-nosing not intended). I have my company listed in a “very” regional category and then it was explained that it is possible to be listed higher up the chain. I had noticed some of my competitors that cover the same area listed up higher, so I applied to the same category two days ago. Much to my surprise today I checked I was not listed in the category, but in the “MAJOR” category above. This category even shows “no editor”. They also were very honest and direct with my description as they were with my previous entry. My first entry also had “no editor”, but I was …

How Can I tell If I'm Listed

Hi, First off this is a great idea. Hats off to dmoz!!! I use to be listed in dmoz but I haven't been able to find my site anymore. Is there a way to find out what I might have done wrong if that is why it isn't listed anymore. I never claimed to be the best webmaster around but my visitors do like the ease of my site. It would be nice to know what I might of done so that I don't do it in the future. If I submitted my site not knowing it was already listed would that be a no no. Thanks for any feedback you can give. Regards, Pat

I've been trying to list a site in the ODP, and get anxious about the note at the bottom that says "This category needs an editor". If as is the case I have to go up about 3 levels to find an editor, isn't this going to make review of the site unlikely? I submitted an application to be an editor 14 days ago along with my listing but I have not heard anything on that either. I would be willing to help out with a few categories under Warfare_and_Conflict. I am big Weapons follower. I know many girls are not into that type of thing but I really enjoy following the advancements in technology. The category I submitted to was: /Society/Issues/Warfare_and_Conflict/Weapon…

I submitted a site 6 months ago. Category had no editor so after a month I moved up the tree and gave the history to the editor up. After no response I wrote to another editor and receive a reponse saying that if the site was not listed in 3 months I should write back. After no listing I wrote back and received no response. After three weeks I wrote to another editor and included the history. After a week with no response, I tried submitting to another category. After a month of no listing, I wrote to another editor and included the history. After three weeks without a response I wrote back to the editor that said he would review it after three month…

How can I submit to ODP?

I tried to submit my site 3 times on monthly intervals to ODP but haven't been accepted yet. I don't think my site contains any illegal or inappropriate materials and the webpage design is professional. Anyone can advise me on how to get ODP editors to accept my site?
