Unable to send Reinstatement Form

Hi, For weeks I have been trying to submit my reinstatement form, without any luck. The problem occurs when I click the submit button and get redirected to editors.dmoz.org with a prompt to enter my username and password, which of course does not work. Any idea WHEN this bug will be resolved? I have mentioned this problem on these forums several times already, yet it seems like nothing is being done. It is highly unprofessional to keep ignoring this issue, especially when ex-editors in good standing, like myself, are ready and willing to resume their editorial functions. My patience with the ODP has worn thin. For the nth time, I ask that you please resolve…

I have been trying all morning to submit a site ( http://www.centrevilletrailer.com ) to: Business: Automotive: Parts and Accessories: Trailers . I have actually tried from three seperate machines. Two here on my network and one that I am fortunate enough to be able to terminal server to. My network is on a 512 DSL connection, the other machine is on a full dedicated T1. I have been trying to submit using both IE and Netscape on all three machines. If I am lucky, I get to the point where the session is trying to load http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi... and then nothing. Hello, I had posted a message on General ODP issues > Site Update about problems updating URL, and was told to report any developments to this forum. Hope this helps if anyone has been facing a similar problem: eventhough I couldn't update a site listing yesterday evening, I have just updated it successfully a few minutes ago. Previously, I was getting a dialog box asking for username and password (as though I was an editor). Mind you, the first time I tried it tonight I still got the same problem, but the request for update went through on the second attempt. Cheers, Lydia ---------------------

Whatever server is handling dmoz.org is totally inadequate. I'd like to become an editor, because there's obviously a need for that, but just getting into dmoz.org requires a great deal of patience. For each access to any page in dmoz, there is less than a 1 in 5 chance of getting a "Cannot find server" error. Therefore the odds of getting through an entire multipage procedure, such as becoming an editor, are extremely low, especially if there is a cgi involved. Maybe that's why you have an editor shortage?!

I have a question. My site www.californialicense.com is being picked up by Google as calicense.directtrack.com/ad/18/CD19 which is a url stream from our affilate network. How can this happen? And where is this coming from? I see when I enter my url in Google it offers a cache page with the same calicense.directtrack.com/ad/18/CD19 name! Has anyone run into this problem?

Hi, with all the similar (including my own) posts about server errors, username/password challenges, form post hanging etc., it might be a good idea for forum administration to look at the possibility of 'stickies' on each forum. These are topics which remain at the top of the list with a 'read me first' heading. The purpose of stickies is to allow a forum administrator to place standard statements about issues which are hot or keep cropping up all the time. Instead of editors having to keep referring people to previous posts where the issues have been clarified in detail (which I'm sure is a pain in the neck!), the visitor can get the information from the sticky…

Hi I've been trying for a week or so to subit a new site using the add url form. It just hangs. Doesn't matter what time of day I try. Now when I try to submit, it trys to log me in as an editor (requests password etc). Is this a particular problem for the past two weeks or is it just that particular submit page? Joop

Im so sorry, Ive read all the posts, I know the problem, we cant submit. But it is on going. I noticed in another thread here that a editor did submit a site for someone. So would it be possible to start a thread where we could submit our submissions here with all the info, and have an editor put our info in the queue? Just a question, not trying to be difficult.

I'm new to the DMOZ. When I go to Suggest a URL in Shopping/Music/Sheet_Music (after I fill in the information) the submit button dialog asks for a login (Enter username and password for "ByPassword" at editors.dmoz.org). I can't see how this could be normal. Any suggestions? Is this only happening in this category? I had this problems yesterday and now this morning. Thanks. I am trying to submit www.winkfast.com and the site is asking me to submit an editor username and password. The actual error is "Enter Username and Password for "By Password" at editors.dmoz.org. This comes up after I click the "Submit" button after inputing the site informtaion at the following category: http://www.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi?where=Business/Construction_and_Maintenance/Materials_and_Supplies/Nails,_Screws_and_Fasteners Anyone else seen this? Hi, Recently I tried to submit my site to: .../Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Hosting/F/ several times, because I got "The page you attempted to access does not exist on this site." each time and I thought that there was a bug in the form or something. Suddenly, I realized that it might sent my submissions after all and just faced a problem after the submissions. So what should I do, I tried to contact the editors of the category without any success. Should I try again, try the submission status forum maybe? Thank you.

I tried again to add a client's site to the ODP this morning, but this time when I clicked on "Add URL," a login box asking for the editor's username and password popped up! It just keeps getting stranger and stranger. I hope this problem is corrected soon.

Trailing slashes

Hi! There is a problem with Dmoz if you do not use trailing slashes on the categories in your browser. This is not a problem if you start at www.dmoz.org and surfs on from there. But if you use the links that your browser recognizes that you have been to, it leaves out the slash - this is the case for IE 6. Just became editor - but cannot login

Hello I really couldn't find where to go with this problem so if any high level editor could help here that would be great. I just got accepted as an editor, but I cannot login at any page. I have tried throughout the day and I have tried all the usual stuff, check caps lock etc. If anyone could reset my password/send me a new one or just someone to contact because the welcome email has no information on what if you can't login and there is no one to email. my username given to me was: carbod email address: bconroy@car-body-kits.org Thanks

I was just poking around noticing the dmoz site has changes showing up again on it. Hurrah. But alas I found a missing page on one of the categories I been watching. The missing url is http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Localities/N/Newport_Beach/Business_and_Economy/Financial_Services/Mortgages/desc.html It is the description page for that category, I just assuming it was not generated with the rest of the site. Anyhow just wanted to let somone know about the issue to take care of it. Owen Brady

Category: Business: Major Companies: Publicly Traded: I Site URL: http://www.indusworld.com Title: Indus International, Inc. Our company's URL has changed to www.indus.com and I need to update our listing in "Business: Major Companies: Publicly Traded: I" so I go to that category, click on the "Update URL" link, enter my request but when I click submit I get a "Bad Category" error message. I have read all the instructions on the "Update URL" page and filled in all the required fields on the form so I am not sure why this is happening. Any suggestions you have for a remedy are much appreciated.
