No, I'm not enquiring about the status of my submission - I know how futile and possibly counter-productive that would be.

In fact, I am not absolutely certain that I have even made a submission, though I am fairly sure I did so - and in case I did, I do not want to incur wrath by doing so again.

My question is whether there could be a simple query facility made available, enabling one to see whether or not a site was (still) in the queue awaiting approval.  The date of submission would also be useful, enabling one to know whether it might have been before or after a significant site update.

Such a facility might even reduce the amount of time and effort spent by editors responding on this forum !

Very few editors have the patience to come here and those that do, do so on a break so it's not impacting the overall editorial effort significantly.

We've talked about automated status checks internally and, on balance, we think they'd do more harm than good. Also, we can think of far more useful ways of using our limited developer effort.

Don't forget that we aren't trying to provide a service to website owners.

I do appreciate that.  Even so, presumably there is some degree of inefficiency for the editors if there is more than one submission for any site - so simply rejecting a duplicate submission (which should surely be simple to implement ?) would help you guys ?

There are several downsides to that idea.

1. Website suggesters make mistakes (being mostly human) and so need the ability to overwrite a faulty listing suggestion with a better one.

2. Some websites are eligible for listings in two or more categories (Think multiple languages. Think Topical and Regional relevance.)

3. Somebody will need to convince staff and our developers that this is a high priority requirement.

I submitted my website and after months re-submitted thinking it had been missed, now i see i might have adversely affected my wonderful websites chances of be accepted. Is there a way to find out if my website has been blacklisted.

Short answer - No.

Longer answer - What would the advantage be to us to keep spammers informed about the measures we've taken against them? This is just a more severe version of the reasons why we haven't given any kind of status report here for years.

However, two listing suggestions do not a spammer make .
