Hi guys!

I just got accepted as an editor. The username is:
georgeb2008

I can not login however through the top-right corner of the main website.
I enter the logon information exactly as I received it and it's not letting me in.

I went through the 'Forgot Password' option and I got e-mailed the same password so I'm pretty sure I have the right user/pass.

Why wouldn't it let me login ?

Thank you,
George

Hi George and welcome to the directory.

Try logging in using only the first 8 characters of your password. Also, be sure all letters in your user name are lower case.

Post back here is that does not work :)

Added: Sorry - correct user name to password.

your username should be your whole name, not the first 8 characters

sometimes the password must be trimmed down to 8 characters.

but at this moment I also have problems accessing DMOZ
better wait some time before your try again
I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.

It depends what your problem is.

At this moment I am also having problems accessing DMOZ.
If you just could not access the server or your connection timed out please try again later.
If you got some error message please let us know what the problem is.

Accesing the internal forum should be no problem. http://forums.dmoz.org

I've reset your password to the one on file. This may take some time to propagate to all servers - and as pvgool mentioned, the servers have been up and down today.

Either way, give it about 24 hours and report back here if the problem is not resolved.

I recently reset my password; this was shortly after i received my acceptance letter. Now I cannot access my editor account using the former password or the new password.
Can anyone clarify please?

Please wait a bit - it can take a while for the new password to propagate to the various editor servers. If you still can't lot in in 24 hours, let us know. Thanks! :moz:

The following is general advice for anyone experiencing log-in problems:

The editing server sometimes stops responding for a few minutes during which time no-one can log in an edit. Unfortunately no-one seems to be able to determine the cause. It's annoying but you just have to wait a few minutes and try again later.

It may also be that you've mis-remembered your password. If you're not sure you can request a reminder from http://www.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/forgot.cgi

You should also make sure that you type your editorname correctly. It consists of letters and numbers with no spaces, and all the letters must be lower case.

If you're still having problems, could you try logging in to the following, and let me know which do/don't work and what errors (if any) you get:
http://affiliations.dmoz.org/
http://editors.dmoz.org/editors/
http://forums.dmoz.org/forum/

Is that any better?

I think http://editors.dmoz.org/editors/ should work for you now. It may take a few hours before the forums and other servers will let you log in. If you're still having problems at this time tomorrow, come back here and we'll see what we can do.

Well, you know when click on the editor login link, the popup login box shows up. Each time I try to login, it just brings keeps showing me the same login box.

I am sure I have the right password, but for some odd reason, it just won't let me in.

I can login now but only to edit categories.

Will wait for Affiliates/Forums since they don't work yet.

Hi!

I am also experiencing the sames problems described by RemyXO. Every time I try to log in in any of the servers (affiliations, editors and forums) the authentication box's pop up keeps appearing, no matter what.

I have not changed my password and the forgot.cgi gives me the correct password.

Thanks for your help!
